Salmon River Helicopters was established in 1993 by Cindy Carlson and husband Guy Carlson. Salmon River Helicopters was initially established as a helicopter logging company. Over the course of several years the company focus has changed into a variety of operations including: logging, aerial spraying, heavy lift construction, wet cement transportation, fire fighting, power line construction, repeater placement, remote non-schedule freight delivery and much more.

Salmon River Helicopters is a unique small, women owned, family operated, and HUBZone certified business. Salmon River Helicopters' base of operations is located in Riggins, Idaho; a community of less than 450 residents. We are located in a rural area and we hire employees residing in rural areas which qualify us for HUBZone classification. Co-founder Cindy Carlson, holds majority ownership of Salmon River Helicopters. We are a typical woman owned business establishing gender equality within the business. The majority of our Salmon River Helicopters key personnel are women such as: Co-founder Cindy Carlson, majority owner, office manager, and director of operations; Christy Carlson-Frisby, helicopter pilot; Niki Carlson-Schacher, secretary/bookkeeper and safety officer; and Cassie Carlson, part-time driver and secretary. Other key personnel include: Co-founder and owner, Guy Carlson, helicopter pilot and site supervisor; Gary Wiltrout, chief pilot; and Dick Simkins, helicopter pilot.
